Second, Cadbury and its partner organisations have worked with farmers to improve life in other ways. For example Cadbury has worked with communities to:
- build over 850 fresh water wells in villages that had no clean water supply
- build several libraries (its staff has collected thousands of books for them)
- provide ICT equipment and training in some of Ghana’s teacher training colleges, so that new teachers will be able to teach ICT.
Improvements like these, and the chance of higher earnings, will help to encourage young people to take up cocoa farming.
Villagers used to get their water from this stream which was a long walk from the village.
The new fresh water well will save people time and energy and improve health in the village.
