Cadbury is one of the world’s oldest, and largest, confectionery companies.
It began in 1831, when John Cadbury started selling cocoa and drinking chocolate, in his shop in Birmingham.
Cadbury has been buying cocoa from Ghana since 1908 – or for over 100 years! In fact it helped Ghana to develop its cocoa industry.
Today, all the chocolate Cadbury sells in the UK is made from Ghanaian cocoa beans.
So Cadbury has very strong links with Ghana’s cocoa farmers. It is concerned about the issues they face. For some time it has worked in partnership with the farmers, and other organisations, to help improve life in cocoa villages.
