Cadbury cocoa partnership
In 2008, one hundred years after it began buying cocoa from Ghana, Cadbury made a new commitment to Ghana’s cocoa farmers.
It launched the Cadbury Cocoa Partnership.
The Cadbury Cocoa Partnership will invest £45 million over a ten-year period in projects to help cocoa farmers. £30 million of this will be invested in Ghana. Cadbury wants these projects to help transform their lives.
Partners include the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) and CARE International.

“I grew up on a cocoa farm, and owe my education to the prosperity which cocoa brought to my family, and look forward to contributing to the future of cocoa farming. In Ghana there is a phrase ‘cocoa obatanpa’ which means ‘cocoa is a good parent, it looks after you’. We hope with this initiative Cadbury and our partners can be a good parent to cocoa.”
James Boetang, MD of Cadbury Ghana
