the big challenge
Ghana is working hard to make life better for its people. It aims to provide good roads, a water supply, electricity, schools and health clinics, in places that don’t have any. In 2000 it set Ghana’s Millennium Development Goals, and is making good progress working towards them.
But all this costs a lot of money. So Ghana is trying to make the most of its rich natural resources, including gold, cocoa, timber, diamonds and oil. It is also encouraging industry and business.
The UK and other countries, as well as the World Bank, give loans and grants to help Ghana meet its aims. Many non-governmental organisations (NGOs) help too. And Cadbury, working in partnership with other organisations, also plays a part, as you’ll see later.
