gears
Gears are made of toothed wheels that mesh together so that the turning of one gear wheel turns the next.
By choosing gears with different shapes and different numbers of teeth, the mechanism can be used to control the rotation speed and direction as well as the turning force.
In the Cadbury production lines, gear systems transfer force from the drive motors to the belts, at the same time reducing the speed of rotation and increasing the force. Varying the speed of the belt is achieved by varying the motor speed.
