Your task
You are a product specification developer at Cadbury. Your task is to produce a manufacturing specification for a layered dessert. The dessert will include Cadbury Dairy Milk or Bournville chocolate and other ingredients of different textures. Before you start developing your ideas, you may wish to:
- use a mind map like the one below to brainstorm ideas
- experiment with existing dessert recipes featuring chocolate from recipe books or the internet
- look at how you could use aeration (and mousses, meringues, cake mixtures as in whisked mixtures)
- investigate recipes including melted chocolate, chocolate chips, chocolate flakes, drinking chocolate or cocoa.
Extension activities
- Create a prototype of your dessert
- Consider how the steps involved in making your dessert could be separated out on a production line
- Put together a design brief for your dessert’s packaging and for a poster campaign advertising it (see below)
- Use drawing techniques to put together some designs for the packaging
