Personal development plan
Once all the feedback has been gathered, the one-on-one appraisal meeting takes place. This will include discussions on career plans and future goals within the company, and look at ways of reaching these goals.
Goals might include things like developing technology skills that could lead to promotion, improving time management, undertaking professional management training or even taking part in a company-run community volunteering programme.
At Cadbury, employees complete a Personal Development Plan (PDP). The PDP is used to set personal targets against target dates. PDPs need to be reviewed regularly to check whether targets are reached, or perhaps missed. The targets may be changed if the employee has a change of mind about their career direction, or changes roles within the company. The mentor is expected to support an employee in achieving the goals set out in their PDP.
